No Kings Rally Environmental Speech

In the chaos we witness,
In the moments of anger we share,
It is hard to keep track of it all.
I am here to call your attention to the environment.
I ask you to Demand a Better Future.
Our purpose, as I believe it to be true,
is to sustain and care for the earth we live on.
And we are doing a shitty job of it.
People are trying, against all odds,
there have been: global agreements,
waste reduction practices,
investments in renewable energies,
environmental regulations,
movements, demonstrations and community action.
Demand A Better Future Now by:
- Supporting the organizations that know what is going on.
- Curb your consumption; energy and waste.
- Leverage your dollar, your choices have power.
The human race has become detached from the ways which earth sustains us.
We live in controlled environments with ac, heat, light switches, hot showers, foods packaged in plastic, circuitry and batteries in our hands and pockets at all times.
Even the conscientious are not immune from the desires for comfort and the habits of carelessness that become human nature.
Demand a Better Future Now
I value life’s incredible miracles; a glimpse of dew on a web, a Luna Moth hatching from its cocoon, wetting my feet in the Sutton River,
but I recognize not everyone is so lucky.
They fail to see the miracles.
They fight nature: spray it with chemicals, set traps, fence off wildlife, mow it down, rake and bag it and blow out the peace and quiet of neighbor hoods.
Corporate greed and the digital market have consumed our lives.
The earth is theirs for the taking.
It is time, Demand a Better Future
Advocate for connection to life’s little miracles.
We are depleting the earth of its resources.
You have the power to curb your waste and consumption.
It seems to me the more technology we develop, the more dopamine we crave, the less we connect with nature, and the smarter we think we are, the more complacent we become.
Don’t Fool Yourself
People have been advocating for the environment since ancient times.
Where are we now, after the environmental movements in the 60’s and 70’s?
We are always at war, somewhere on this planet an active war is wasting, polluting and devastating ALL LIFE on Earth.
Catastrophic flooding, wildfires and natural disasters are increasing.
Habitat loss, deforestation, and climate change are major drivers of biodiversity loss and extinction across the globe.
150 species go extinct each day.
Say it with me:

Environmental protection is a shared responsibility.
Regardless of our government’s current fiasco, WE have choices every day and our choices have power.

The Center of Biological Diversity filed 266 lawsuits during Trumps first administration.
They won 9 out of every 10 cases; including:
Cutting air and water pollution,
Defending the Endangered Species Act,
Preserving National Forests,
Petitioning the use of radioactive byproducts in roads,
Demanding updates to energy standards,
Upholding laws,
and so much more.
The Center of Biological Diversity works together, with the help of Friends of the Earth, Green Peace, Earth Justice, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Environmental Defense Fund and more.

Support the organizations that know what is going on.
Whitehouse.gov Claims: President Trump is promoting energy innovation for a healthier future. By “producing the cleanest energy in the world”
They also say he is pausing restrictive emissions rules for coal plants and revising the National Environmental Policy Act.— saving American’s thousands on energy bills and proving that a strong economy and a healthy environment go hand-in-hand.
They claim President Trump is championing sound forest management. And how is he doing that?
By banning paper straw mandates.
Claiming they are bad “for humans and the environment.”
I can’t make this stuff up,
I thought I couldn’t read on,
but, there isn’t anything else listed under championing sound forest management.
The white house claims Trump is protecting wildlife by pausing wind projects. That is the only wildlife protection listed.
They say he is doing a great job, “leveraging environmental policies” to promote economic growth while maintaining the standards that have afforded Americans the cleanest air and water in the world for generations,”
Yet environmental agencies have filed dozens of lawsuits against his administration since January including:
Defending millions of acres of U.S. waters from off shore drilling,
Fighting for the Freedom of Information Act for resources vital to U.S farmers,
Defending the constitutional right to challenge government by supporting the law firms Trump is threatening to silence,
Suing to stop the executive orders that violate our checks and balances, and Stopping the EPA from withholding grants.
So what is the environmental cost of the Trump administration?
We are paying; our tax dollars are paying to fight against these lawsuits that are trying to protect our air, water and wildlife.
In contradiction with the whitehouse.gov:
Stinson News wrote in February 2025 that President Trump’s executive orders reversed EPA priorities, and eliminated the terms “environmental justice” and “climate change” from the EPA’s website.

Sprawling tracts of land, including in the Arctic, have been earmarked for new oil and gas drilling, commercial fishing will be ushered into ocean sanctuaries and half of the US’s vast expanse of national forests can now be cut down for timber. Laws to prevent harm to endangered species are set to be drastically cut back…
The Trump administration has a goal of eliminating 30% of regulations that will boost the fossil fuel industry.
